Course overview:

This course is designed to provide learners with the knowledge and skills to work with an individual living with Parkinson Disease. Learners will identify the signs and symptoms of Parkinson's disease, gain an understanding of its causes and examine the most effective ways of caring for people living with the disease.

Course learning outcomes:

By the end of the day, learners will be able to:
• Define the term Parkinson's Disease
• List the causes of Parkinson's Disease
• Describe the signs and symptoms
• Discuss who is at risk of developing Parkinson's Disease
• Describe the importance of diagnosis and the diagnosis process
• List the difficulties an individual may experience living with Parkinson's Disease
• Discuss the available treatments including holistic and medicinal options
• Explain the care workers role in providing care
• List and discuss any specific considerations for providing care to a person living with Parkinson's Disease.
