Course overview:

Anaphylaxis is a potentially life-threatening condition and prompt action in its recognition and management is essential to preserve life. This course provides the underpinning knowledge and appropriate skills to manage casualties and ultimately if required to perform effective basic life support until emergency assistance can arrive.

Course learning outcomes:

By the end of the session, learners will be able to:

  • Define the term Anaphylaxis
  • List the common triggers
  • Discuss the effect of anaphylaxis on the body
  • Describe common signs anaphylaxis
  • Discuss treatment options for a casualty with anaphylaxis.
  • Discuss and Demonstrate the safe and correct use of an Auto Injector pen
  • Demonstrate effective management of an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally
  • Demonstrate effective management of an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally
