Course overview:

This qualification is for those undertaking the role of a first aider in the workplace. The QNUK Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF) has been developed in conjunction with other Awarding Organizations and supports employers to meet their requirements under the Health and Safety (First Aid) regulations 1981. (NI 1982)

The Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF) consists of two units:
• Unit 1- Emergency First Aid in the Workplace (EFAW)
• Unit 2- Recognition and Management of Illness and Injury in the Workplace

Course learning outcomes:

By the end of the day, learners will be able to:
• Define First aider and discuss roles and responsibilies
• Discuss incident management including acting safely,
promptly and effectively in an emergency
• Discuss and demonstrate Cardiopulmonary
Resuscitation (CPR)
• Treat an unresponsive casualty using the primary
survey
• Discuss and demonstrate the Recovery Position
• Discuss management of Wounds and bleeding
• Discuss management of Shock
• Discuss management of Minor injuries
• Discuss management of Choking
• Define the importance of preventing cross infection,
recording incidents and actions and the use of
available equipment
• Discuss, demonstrate and practice the
management of the following injuries
and/or illnesses; Fractures, Sprains and strains, Spinal injuries, Chest injuries, Severe burns and scalds, Eye injuries, Poisoning, Anaphylaxis ,Heart attacks, Strokes and Epilepsy
