Course overview:
This course has been developed to give learners the knowledge and skills in fire safety, including how fires are caused, the risks associated with fire, principles of fire safety management at work and safe use of portable fire-fighting equipment.
Course learning outcomes:
By the end of the day, learners will be able to:
• Define the term Fire
• List the components of a Fire
• Discuss the causes of a fire including arson
• List the ways in which a fire spreads
• Discuss the hazards and risks associated with fire in the workplace
• Describe and list how fire risk is controlled in the workplace
• Understand the principles and practice of fire safety management at
work including fire risk assessment, fire detection and fire extinguishers
• Discuss the safe use of firefighting equipment
